"Star" Sighting

Now hear this. Now hear this.

The one, the only, Lauren Conrad aka L.C., was in my grand city of Memphis yesterday at Davis Kidd bookstore for a book signing (side note... word on the street is she didn't actually write it). Seeing as Davis Kidd is literally about two minutes from my casa, I decided, "What the hey. I'm going to see Lauren!" So, I went after work for a drive by... and got sucked in.

Call me lame, call me a dork, call me a teeny bopper, trust me, I have called myself all those things already. However, compared to the guys (yes, guys) waiting in line, some of which I could tell were drug along by girlfriends (whipped!) and some who were definitely there out of a strange obsession for the L.A. lady, I was looking pretty good. I even saw a few people I know... personally humiliation and embarrassment aside, it was strangely entertaining. I blame my inner diva's longing to get a glimpse into the lifestyle of the rich and "famous" reality TV star.

Now, I have to tell you about all of the rules and regs she gave to her adoring fans who waited in the heat of a crammed bookstore. Davis Kidd had them posted on the doors!

1. No one-on-one pictures. You have to put your camera in your purse when you walk up for a signing and may take it out after you walk away. Only candids from a distance are allowed.

2. No personal meet and greets. Apparently, the sponsoring magazine tried to do a sweepstakes for about ten girls to get some face time with the princess herself, but she totally nixed that idea.

3. No personalized signatures.

Need I go on??? Who does this girl think she is? I know, I know, I went to see her, but still, come on already! At one point I heard she was actually a pretty cool person, but that's all down the toilet.

When she finally enters... yes, she is skinny minny for all of you who secretly want to know... her hair is down the sides of her face looking EXACTLY like on "The Hills", her head is lowered, and she is not smiling (I'll give her maybe a smirk). She walks straight over to her table and turns her back to the crowd... here's where I leave.

I came, I saw, I was not impressed. Now, if I got the completely wrong impression of her, then L.C., I publicly offer my sincerest apologies, but I am pretty sure I didn't. In one word, the entire event and the special guest were disappointing. Sad. I really wanted to love her. Anyone who knows me, knows that is the truth. That'll teach me...

***End note: I would like to say, "You are welcome" to those friends who were able to get a second hand view of one Ms. Lauren Conrad via my visit, text messages, and pictures. You know who you are... :)
